Registration:

To register, please download the registration form and complete it, and return it by email, or by fax, or by post, to the address at the bottom of this page (by post if paying by cheque). The registration form is available in Microsoft Word and Adobe PDF formats. (Please note: the registration form was updated on 7th March 2006. If you downloaded an older version, please discard it and download the new version).

Conference registration fees are as follows; prices are in pounds sterling (£, GBP; for reference, £1 is approximately US$1.75). The Conference Dinner is an optional extra costing £35:

On-site registration and collection of delegate packs will take place at the Registration Desk which will be located in the Viriamu Jones Gallery, Main University Building. This will be signposted from the entrance. Times for registration will be confirmed at a later date.

On arrival you will be supplied with a badge and bag containing the conference material.

Venue:

Conference sessions will be held in the Large Shandon Lecture Theatre in the Main Building of Cardiff University (39 on map) in Park Place, Cardiff, CF10 3AT, UK with refreshment breaks and lunches in the adjacent Viriamu Jones Gallery.

The Conference Dinner (optional extra) will be held in the Committee Rooms, Glamorgan Building, Cardiff University, King Edward VII Avenue, Cardiff CF10 3WT (49 on map) on Wednesday 7th June 2006. This venue is a short walk from the conference venue and local city centre hotels.

Accomodation:

The following hotels are all within easy walking distance to the conference venue. Delegates are responsible for booking and paying for their own accommodation. Special rates listed below have been negotiated and are subject to availability. We advise all delegates to reserve accommodation well in advance to avoid disappointment. Travel:

In addition to the details below, you may wish to consult the advice on the Cardiff University website for further information.

Road Travel: directions are provided on the Cardiff University website for finding various Cardiff University buildings by road from any UK Postcode. Note, however, that Cardiff University cannot provide any parking, and as we are near the city centre, on-street parking is not feasible. Anyone coming by road will be responsible for their own parking arrangements in a city centre public car park, or their hotel. (Roads around the University operate an expensive voucher parking system; vouchers are available from the Students Union situated in Park Place and shops in the city centre.)

Air Travel: Cardiff International Airport is 11 miles from the city centre and is served by KLM / Northwest from Amsterdam. There are shuttle buses from Cardiff Wales Airport to the city centre; taxis to the town centre cost about £25 and take about 1/2 hour. Buses from the airport to the city centre run at about 20 minutes to and 25 minutes past the hour (first bus at 09.13, services X91 express and 95). Buses from Cardiff bus station to the airport run at 10 minutes past and half past the hour (first bus at 05.20, at stand E1). For further information please call +44 (0)870 608 2 608.
It is also possible to fly to London and take a train. Heathrow Airport is nearest London airport to Cardiff. The Rail-air link to Cardiff from Heathrow takes up to 3 hours, and costs between £75 and £125 return, depending on time / day of travel. There are also buses to Cardiff from Heathrow, but these take longer, and are often fully booked in advance.

Rail, Bus Travel: People travelling by train or coach should travel to Cardiff Central Railway / Bus Station. Most city centre hotels are a 5 minute taxi ride from there.
The London to Cardiff Intercity train service leaves London Paddington Station on the hour and on the half hour with a journey time of about 2 hours. For train information please ring +44 (0)845 7484950 or consult www.nationalrail.co.uk.
National Express operates coaches with direct links from London’s Heathrow and Gatwick Airports. For coach information please contact +44 (0)8705 808080 or consult www.nationalexpress.com.

Internet Access:

Wireless Internet access will be available in the Large Shandon Lecture Theatre and Viriamu Jones Gallery for the duration of the conference. All delegates wishing to use this facility will need to complete a simple authorisation process. Passwords and details of how to connect will be provided in the delegate information packs.

Messages:

A board for messages will be provided in the registration area. In case of emergency, telephone messages may be left as follows: Cardiff University Conference Office +44 (0) 29 2087 5117 (8.30am-5.00pm). Outside these hours a message can be left on the answer machine.

The University Health Centre is situated at 47 Park Place and is open from 9.00am-4.30pm Monday-Friday. Please note that the Health Centre is to be used in an Emergency Only.
